Wedding Sneak Peak: Update on the Dress!

Well, I thought I ought to share a bit more of the story of THE DRESS. No, not my wedding dress, though of course that's what most people would assume when I mention a dress. What I'm talking about is the infamous BRIDESMAID DRESS. Seriously, if there were no other reasons for never getting married again (aka. I'm completely in love with my man and totally believe in the "till-death-do-us-part" idea) I would never, ever have another wedding because of these darn dresses!
What I said in the last post on this was that my roommate/maid-of-honor - Lana - and I had finally found her dress. Situations happened that made it complicated to order it, but we did. And it was wonderful. Until of course, I didn't realize that the company was sending it with FedEx, and FedEx didn't realize that I didn't have a door buzzer for the apartment, and when I saw the slip on the door to the apartment building saying that a FedEx package had arrived, I thought that the slip said it was a package for apartment #306 (I'm #305). Yep. It was wonderful until then.
So, you know, a month goes by, and I start to wonder where the dress is. Should have arrived AGES ago. Eventually, I decide to search my email to see if they included a tracking number. And guess what. Turns out FedEx brought it to our apartment weeks before! I'm pretty sure I almost threw up from frustration.

Remember this picture from last time? It was about a thousand times worse.

Of course, the best thing about this was, that I figured it out about a minute before I had to leave for work. So who did I call?

GHOSTBUSTERS!!!

Well, no. Actually I called Derek... But he was way better then any three ghost-busting guys from the 80s. He called FedEx for me, then the company from whom we ordered the dress, figured out how to get them to resend it to us, and even used his credit card again. Everything was wonderful. I worked with a smile.
Until the next morning when I checked my email and read over the message from the company that said that our order was cancelled. Like... seriously? What in the world? I swear, life is out to get me.

But, like all stories, this one had a happy ending. Derek called them again (ah, my hero), and figured out that it was actually a promotion - where you get a free gift if you purchase the dress - that was cancelled. The dress arrived, and its now hanging in our closet waiting for the wedding day - and contrary to previous worries, it even fits her perfectly! Happy day.

Tour 2012 - Esther

Late Monday night, my drama team from school returned to Steinbach after eight days touring parts of western Canada with our self-written play on Esther. We went as far as Picture Butte, Alberta, performing at churches, youth groups, and Christian schools. With at least one performance every day, and several days of nine or ten hour drives in an Astro van, tour was gold. We went to The Cave (a restaurant in Saskatoon with, as Terry said, overpriced, bad food and awkward atmosphere):

Picture of the front entrance found here.

We also saw The Pirates: Band of Misfits (by the same people who created Chicken Run and Wallace and Grommit), which we all agreed reflected our humor. In fact, we also found that the Jungle Jam children's radio tapes could have been written by us. It was odd, but entertaining, of course.

As a team we created video-logs (vlogs) for each day of tour. I have included the links here. They will do a much better job of showing our tour than I can. I'm not sure where the last two are, but when they're up, I'll post them.

Passover

This year, for the first time ever, Derek had Passover! And he had it with me.

See, there we are together, being all cute. And enjoying Passover. Derek got to see me be incredibly bubbly as I told him stories of growing up Jewish - my cousins fighting about hockey teams and politics, finding the afikomen year after year, the great food (matzah, and matzah ball soup, charoset, etc.).

This Sunday (yes, I know it wasn't the official first day of Passover, but it was the only day we had the time) we through together a delightful little feast for the two of us and I led us through the Haggadah (which is the book which outlines the official part of the Passover meal - for anyone who isn't Jewish). While we improved a LOT of the meal - 'cause we live in Steinbach, and lets face it, it isn't the most Jewish of neighbourhoods - we managed to have delicious lamb, flatbread (we used naan bread as opposed to matzah), charoset, kosher wine, and all the other essentials. In fact, I admitted to Derek that I don't remember ever having actual lamb at a Passover in my childhood.

Also, we used cute spring colours - which allows me to throw some decor into this blog, again. The red plate at the top of the table is the seder plate, complete with all the essentials - except the lamb shank bone, which was busy being cooked when I took the picture. You can see the delicious charoset in the green bowl, and - of course - a can of coke, an addiction I got from my Jewish grandfather, so I thought it deserved a place in this post. ;)

And just for any of you ladies who might be already a bit jealous of my handsome, strong, wonderful man:

Yes, there he is cooking. And yes. He is enjoying it. Mmm. Isn't he great? 45 days until the wedding!

Yummy.
